Protect Plastic Plates from Flyaway Disasters

There are many times and places that plastic ware is appropriate. Unlike glass or porcelain plates, plates that are made of plastic are unbreakable and can withstand different forms of abuse that many other kinds of food ware and supplies cannot handle.

For people who choose to use plastic plates, there is a selection of themes and colors to choose from. People can set out to continue a theme for their party or can stick with standard and basic plates that will probably cost less.

Plastic plates can be troublesome for people hosting outdoor shindigs. This is because sometimes the weather can overpower the light weight of plastic ware. Loose or unattended plates, cups or utensils will fly away with gentle breezes, while bowls filled with snacks can be blown over by strong winds. However, for people who are adamant about using plastic ware for their party, there are certain precautions that can be taken.

Making sure that there are multiple garbage bins on the party site will decrease the chance of unintentional or accidental littering. Tablecloths, like balloons and other decorations, should be tied down and secured. Unused plates and cups can be stacked on top of one another to create as much weight as possible. If additional weight is needed, paper weights or anything heavy can be placed on top of the pile to keep it down. Utensils like forks, knives and spoons can be grouped together and placed inside of a heavy bucket so that they are not disturbed by the wind. It is a foolish idea to place utensils horizontally in a basket because they will need additional care to keep them in place. Wicker baskets are relatively light in weight, and it will not take a lot for them to be knocked over. For outside parties, hosts need to inform their guests about the precautions they can take as individuals to prevent flyaway disasters.
